Help us help them.
Picture a little girl. She’s just eight years old. Her mother is dead from AIDS. She never knew her father.
She lives – if that’s the right word – with six other children, the oldest just 13. They occupy a shack pieced together from waste plastic and cardboard.
She eats – if that’s the right word – what she can scrounge or beg.
Picture a winter’s night in the townships of South Africa. In the highveld, the temperature drops below freezing. Fuel for a fire is scarce. Electricity and gas are not supplied, and if they were, there is no money to pay for them.
Picture that little girl, huddled shivering in the dark with her companions on a broken mattress. She wears all the clothes she owns. She shares rags for bedding. Will she ever be warm?
You can change her life. Along with more than three thousand people in 35 countries, you could knit a square to go into a blanket. It would become her most loved possession. Or you could pledge for an orphan in any number of ways.
If you do nothing else, please learn more about our work. It will warm your heart. More important, you might warm another little girl. Please donate and make that change now. |
